Week 5 → Labs & Midterm Progress

Labs

I wanted to use the lamp for these labs, however I was not able to find the right supplies in the shop. I ended up using the DC motor and didn’t have too much trouble completing both labs: 

(I don’t know why these are uploading upside down sorry!!) 


I did end up using a TIP 102 transistor since the others mentioned in the lab were out - the pcomp residents didn’t think it would be any problem and it seemed to work fine! 


Midterm progress

I met with Kai (pcomp resident) last week, who gave me some helpful advice on the project. He thought that using Adafruit’s LED options instead of attempting to connect an incandescent/LED bulb would be a more realistic approach for the project

Unfortunately there were no bigger LED light strips / Neopixels available at the shop or to borrow at the pcomp help session, so I ordered my own on Friday:
                

While these are en route, I would like to try connecting the potentiometer to a normal LED to experiment with the dimming and on/off code
